Fantázia-palotájában, Xanaduban meghal Charles Foster Kane, a sajtómágnás. Egy riporter megpróbálja rekonstruálni az életében hozzá közel álló személyek meginterjúvolásával a tipikus amerikai sikerember életét. A különálló jelenetek, a visszaidézések és a dokumentarista jellegű képsorok sokaságából a személyiség komplex képe rajzolódik ki: Kane egyszerre gátlástalan törtető médiamogul, és krónikus magánytól szenvedő, esendő ember. A film a legjobb eredeti forgatókönyv kategóriában Oscar díjat kapott, a brüsszeli 12 listáján a 9. helyen szerepel.

A group of reporters are trying to decipher the last word ever spoken by Charles Foster Kane, the millionaire newspaper tycoon: "Rosebud." The film begins with a news reel detailing Kane's life for the masses, and then from there, viewers are shown flashbacks from Kane's life. As the reporters investigate further, the viewers see a display of a fascinating man's rise to fame, and how he eventually fell off the top of the world. The film  won for Best Writing (Original Screenplay) by Mankiewicz and Welles, iIn 1958 it was voted number nine on the prestigious Brussels 12 list at the 1958 World Expo.
