"In a world driven by technology and overwhelmed by catastrophe, the role of the painter has evolved into something more vital than ever before. As artists, it’s our duty to dig in and dive through the real human emotion and experience—especially in an era where emotional expression is often buried beneath layers of self-protection. People have become guarded, calculating their movements and emotions, carefully crafting their external presentation to protect their inner selves. My painting journey centers on the complexities of human emotional intelligence and experience. Through my work, I strive to unveil the hidden layers that define our inner worlds—our anxieties, fears, and relationships with ourselves and others. The portraits I create are not epresentations of real individuals; instead, they are reflections of human emotions, molded into figures that embody the essence of our shared struggles. At first glance, these portraits may seem distorted, even unsettling. But this is intentional. The discomfort they evoke serves as a gateway to deeper self-reflection, encouraging the viewer to confront their own inner realities. Only by stepping into the unknown, by embracing vulnerability, can we truly understand ourselves. In crafting these psychologically rich portraits, I aim to forge a connection with the viewer. The subtle interplay of facial expressions, body language, and color creates a visual narrative that resonates on an emotional level, transcending the physical appearance of the figures. To deliver this message effectively, I focus on the balance between abstract backgrounds and the figures within them. The backgrounds, often filled with bold colors and nostalgic shapes, evoke memories of comfort, childhood, and simplicity. But as the viewer immerses themselves, these elements begin to unsettle, drawing attention to the figures and inviting introspection. My artistic style—characterized by distorted forms and dreamlike imagery—draws inspiration from surrealism, expressionism, and post-impressionism, blending naturalistic and abstract elements. Through this exploration, my work aims to provoke thought, inspire empathy, and challenge viewers to dig deeper into their own emotional landscapes. In a world where we are all increasingly disconnected from our emotions and each other, these paintings serve as an invitation to reconnect with the raw, unguarded essence of being human. Welcome to my exploration of the human psyche—through faces that are not just faces, but emotions, experiences, and the silent stories of our inner worlds." (Jumana Ebeerat)
