Summer Brass Academy at the Institute of Music

Teachers:

 

József Bazsinka got his master's degree at Ferenc Liszt Music Academy in 1985. He attended mastercourses lead by Mel Culbertson, Roger Bobo and Sam Pilafian. He received numerous prizes at national and international music competitions as solo and chamber artist  (Prague, Bracs, Ancona, Markneukirchen, Narbonne, Sydney). Between 1990 and 2008 he was teaching tuba at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music. In 2009 Professor Bazsinka started teaching at the Insitute of Music at the University Of Pécs, since 2021 he's been the head of the Brass and Percussion Department. Between 1982 and 1993 he was the tube player of the Hungarian National Opera, since 1992 he's a member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra. From 1986 on he lead several mastercourses around the world (Hungary, Spain, Croatia, South Korea, Great Britain, United States, Argentina etc.) Throughout his career, he has performed with many notable orchestras and music groups, including the Berlin Radio Orchestra, the Klangforum Wien Orchestra, the Utopia Orchestra, UMZE, the Pro Bass Ensemble, In Medias Brass, the Brummadza Tube Quartet, the Intermodulation Ensemble. He's also a member of The Hungarian Brass Quintet, the Rigo Brass Band and the Bazsinka Tuba Quintet. He has released 4 solo CDs, and appeared on many contemporary classical records. In 1996 he received the highest national musical award in Hungary, the Franz Liszt prize. 
 

 

Stefan Tischler, a native of Gütersloh in Eastern Westphalia, has been the principal tuba player in the Symphonieorchesters des Bayerischen Rundfunks since September 1st, 2010. Following his music studies with Professor Walter Hilgers at the “Franz Liszt” Academy of Music in Weimar, an initial engagement took him to the Essen Philharmonic. Later he switched to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Stefan Tischler made guest appearances with a number of distinguished orchestras, such as the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras. In addition to his passion for chamber music and brass instruments, Stefan Tischler also makes regular solo appearances. In the past he has performed with the Essen Philharmonic, the Westphalian Chamber Philharmonic and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. Currently he is a professor of tuba at the Nuremberg University of Music.

 

Born in 1977, Balázs Szakszon graduated as a student of Ferenc Steiner at the Budapest Academy of Music. As a member of various brass ensembles, he has been awarded in numerous international competitions. Since the fall of 2002, he has been the first trombonist of the Budapest Festival Orchestra as section leader. He is also a member of the Rigó Brass Ensemble.

 

Born in 1980, Csaba Wagner completed his studies at the Franz Liszt University in 2004 as a student of Prof. Ferenc Steiner and Prof. András Fejér. Later on he attended masterclasses lead by Charles Vernon, Ben van Dijk and Stefan Schulz. He won several national and international trombone competitions. From 2002 to 2006 he was playing trombone at the Hungarian National Opera,  between 2006 and 2015 he was a member of the Statskapelle Berlin, then he spent three years at Leipzig with the Gewandhausorchester, and another three years with the Budapest Festival Orchestra. Since 2020 he's been the bass trombonist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. He also has performed with various international groups and orchestras: the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Teatro alla Scala, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Hamburg State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the German Brass, the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble and the Bayreuther Festspiele. He has lead masterclasses in Europe, South America and the United States.

  • Minimum 14 years of age
  • Studies in brass instruments at secondary schools of music or music university. 
  • Participants must have their own instruments. Everything else is provided by the organizers.
