The International Piano Competition in memory of Liszt Ferenc
will be held in Pécs, Hungary

from June 17th to 30th 2007,

organized by the Institute of Music of the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts, the University of Pécs. This competition is intended to discover talented pianists, and help students, young teachers and artists to embark on their international career.

The competition programme, which consists of three solo, and one orchestral rounds, is mostly composed of a selection of original works and transcriptions from Liszt's piano oeuvre, of various difficulties. In the final, alongside the three well-known concertos, the recently discovered "De Profundis" concerto may also be chosen. The world-famous Viennese Bösendorfer Piano Factory is providing the pianos for the event. The Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra will perform in the orchestral round, conducted by Zsolt Hamar.

Timetable:

  • June 17 - draw, opening concert
  • June 18-21 - preliminary selection
  • June 22-24 - quarter final
  • June 26-27 - semi final
  • June 28 - rehearsal with orchestra
  • June 29 - final
  • June 30 - awards ceremony, winner's gala concert
